Ann Ryves trained at Kingston Art School in 1947 and graduated with a degree in Fine Art. She has painted all her life using oils with a palette knife and has exhibited all over London where she lived.
She was a member of the ROI (Royal Oil Institute) and was on the committee for several years.
She was a founding member of the Galsworthy Group who met monthly and exhibited around Surrey and a member of the Richmond Arts Society, becoming very involved with putting on exhibitions every year.
She often came to Scotland and painted outside, work which she then drew on throughout the year. Her love of colour and texture is apparent in her paintings, and she always worked to improve, painting anything from landscapes to still life and filling sketchbooks with ideas which could appear years later in her paintings. Ann has now retired from painting but has a large body of work, and we are delighted to be exhibiting a selection at Aberfeldy Gallery.
