Christine is an embroiderer and textile artist. From childhood she has loved fabric and threads but, after completing the City and Guilds course at Dundee, her interest was taken to a different level. For a few years Christine was involved in interior soft furnishings, producing hand-made curtains and cushions. Following that she set up a craft business using tweeds to make a variety of appliquéd goods. However, her first love was the artwork she had begun at college, so she decided to take things in that direction once more.
Christine has used various techniques but is presently fascinated by the layering of our landscape, and the juxtaposition of colour and texture in rock, heather and water, against ever changing skies. Using hand dyed, semi-translucent fabrics enables her to give an impression of what she sees and the simple stitching gives definition and adds texture.
