Jenny Matthews RSW
Jenny studied Drawing and Painting at Edinburgh College of Art, graduating with a BA(Hons) in 1986. She has been a professional artist since then. In 2007 and 2015 she was awarded prizes at the Royal Watercolour Society (RWS), London and in 2016 she was nominated for the international watercolour prize ‘Marche d’Acqua’ in Italy. In 2017 she was Artist in Residence at the Museo della Carta e della Filigrana in Fabriano, Italy and for several years has led the Scottish group at the international watercolour convention in Italy, ‘FabrianoinAcquarello’ and is Scottish country leader for the InArte Watercolour Platform. In October 2022 she was awarded full membership of the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour (RSW). Her work is in numerous private and corporate collections worldwide including Adam and Co., Edinburgh, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, London, author Ian Rankin and Paintings in Hospitals, Scotland.
Dame Elizabeth Blackadder DBE was Jenny’s tutor at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh as part of her degree course. From Dame Blackadder she developed a love of watercolour, flowers and plants which has subsequently been the mainstay of her career as an artist.
