Katherine Sutherland

Katherine is a full-time artist living in the Scottish Highlands. She receives her visual inspiration from the drama of the surrounding countryside which she interprets using bold brush strokes and an exciting palette of colours. Taking inspiration from the Scottish colourists Katherine has tried to emulate their strong composition and brushwork, and to introduce their sensitive reverence for nature into her own work.

Katherine works in a variety of media, watercolour, ink, acrylic, oils and charcoal, and a variety of sizes, from very tiny paintings to very large works. While continuing to refine her skills, balancing colours and depicting a sense of light and the beauty of the Highlands, she takes pleasure in creating unique works of art reflecting the landscape of Scotland as she sees it.
