Maryann graduated with a BA (Hons) in printed textile design from Manchester in 1985. She was awarded a travel bursary from the Royal Society of Arts and exhibited her textile designs throughout the UK the following year. She worked as a freelance textile designer exhibiting in Paris, Frankfurt and New York and selling to companies such as John Lewis, Sanderson, Next Interiors, Coloroll, Textra, Dovedell, Blydenstein-Willink in the Netherlands and Charles Samuelson in the USA. She was commissioned to design a collection of rugs which were exhibited at Liberty’s in London.
Maryann turned her attention to painting, beginning with a shared exhibition of watercolours in Fulham. In 2008 she exhibited at the RGI Open Exhibition and later became a member of the National Society in London. Maryann exhibits regularly around Scotland. Her watercolour and oil paintings are in many private collections in Britain and Europe.
